I acknowledge the traditional owners of the land where I live, the Dhudaroa people, as the first people of this country.
Welcome to Viewfinder. I hope you will allow me to share my love of photography with you. It is my hope that future posts will be entertaining as well as informative. Over time I hope to showcase and make comment on work I have been commissioned to do as well as personal work, which I do in order to hone my skills and keep abreast of new ideas and equipment. I’m not sure where this blog will take us but you are welcome to join me as I attempt to create, using photography, original graphics, design and text, a series of photo essays. For the time being I don’t expect to make daily posts but instead will restrict them to a couple or so a month.
I see it as a privilege to live here on this smallholding with my wife, a flock of goats, countless horses, one very spoilt cat and a small olive grove. One day soon I hope to finish building a straw bale and pressed earth brick house. This has been the biggest and most time consuming project I have ever undertaken.
Before I finish I would like to acknowledge a few special people:
My uncle Tom, who gave me my first camera, a Kodak Instamatic 33. It lit my curiosity and I started to see the world as thousands of shapes, textures, forms, tones and colours.
Simon Gudgeon, who gave me a digital camera, empowering me to continue my creative exploration, essential to all our well-being. His generosity and support have known no bounds. You can find out more about Simon here
Dianne, my wife who has given me much support, encouragement and love. Who, on occasions, has been known to help carry heavy loads to the top of mountains, only like me, to be disappointed when the clouds have descended and a photo opportunity missed.
Unless otherwise stated, all photography on this site are copyright. If you would like to use any of my images for commercial use, please don't hesitate to contact me.
Thank you for taking the time to read my blog.
